Goodness, you're a great storyteller, Ailén. In a platform like this one, where everyone seems to have convinced themselves that their talent for writing unsolicited advice and top-ten lists warrants a book deal, it's an absolute balm to read someone with so much talent for telling stories. They keep telling us that the "memoir is dead." So are personal essays, apparently. I suppose it's because there are few of us writing them? One editor told me it's because the spirit of the times warrants a service be provided in our writing. Bucket lists? recommendations? para-content?? 🙃

Please keep going, your essays are a delight and you are forging your own path, and your talent speaks for itself. Abrazos, Dany. 🌸

This narrative reminds me that in several opportunities and situations in my life I have encountered people who were overconfident and boasted about how intelligent they were and I felt totally embarrassed since in my opinion they were really mediocre. In contrast, life gave me an opportunity to interact with others who were unpretentious but clearly smart and from them I have realized that it

would be a healthy good thing to examine our abilities or skills once in a while to adjust our self esteem accordingly and realistically, not too high so that we wrongfully think we are the best but not too low either to the point of self sabotage!
