Prudence is a virtue (but so is shamelessness). | La prudencia es una virtud (y la falta de vergüenza también). La traducción al español sigue el original.
Goodness, you're a great storyteller, Ailén. In a platform like this one, where everyone seems to have convinced themselves that their talent for writing unsolicited advice and top-ten lists warrants a book deal, it's an absolute balm to read someone with so much talent for telling stories. They keep telling us that the "memoir is dead." So are personal essays, apparently. I suppose it's because there are few of us writing them? One editor told me it's because the spirit of the times warrants a service be provided in our writing. Bucket lists? recommendations? para-content?? 🙃
Please keep going, your essays are a delight and you are forging your own path, and your talent speaks for itself. Abrazos, Dany. 🌸
Oh wow, Dany, what an incredible compliment, especially because it comes from you. Mil gracias, siempre espero con gusto tus ensayos, y me encanta aprender sobre la cocina a traves de tus ojos. Gracias, Dany <3
This narrative reminds me that in several opportunities and situations in my life I have encountered people who were overconfident and boasted about how intelligent they were and I felt totally embarrassed since in my opinion they were really mediocre. In contrast, life gave me an opportunity to interact with others who were unpretentious but clearly smart and from them I have realized that it
would be a healthy good thing to examine our abilities or skills once in a while to adjust our self esteem accordingly and realistically, not too high so that we wrongfully think we are the best but not too low either to the point of self sabotage!
I don't know why, but this line really got me "I received the text in which Stylish described a narrow encounter with management, in which they almost discovered he still couldn’t conjugate."
I think I'll also start taking inspiration from Fred Stylish (and make a What Would Fred Stylish bracelet). I sometimes look on enviously as others go through life with very little inhibition. And if I could just have a little less myself...
One option is to be perma-drunk, though I haven't tested it out...I am very happy to hear I am not the only one who finds Stylish inspirational, though!

Have you seen this movie with Mads Mikkelsen called ‘Another Round’? It is very much the premise. Very good movie too.
A wonderful story - so glad you took inspiration and a risk!!
Sometimes it pays off! Thank you for reading, Gillian :)
I showed him the story. Fred Stylish approves. Fred stylish approves a lot. He says he really needed to read that :)
